Model Making
Here you'll find a selection of my works. All of these projects are by my metrics finished, and all show off interesting parts of my talents as a model maker. They show my views on them not all of them these views are charitable but if nothing else you gain an insight into how I think.
Model Examples
Demon Lord
Techniques used:
- Kit bashing.
- Sculpting
Materials used:
- Warhammer kits (from some Winged Ghouls and a Vampire Lord)
- Green Stuff
Fun Fact:
- Getting the pose to work with the parts I had required the use of green stuff to join them together.
Blind Troll
Techniques used:
- Kit bashing
- Sculpting
Materials used:
- Fimo.
- Green stuff.
- Warhammer parts (from Trolls)
Fun Fact:
- This was the project that made me give up on Fimo as a material as I do not like having to bake it in the oven on a very specific temperature
Centipede
Techniques used:
- Junk Modelling
- Sculpting
Materials used:
- Paint pots
- Green Stuff
- Wire
- Bits of wood
Fun Fact:
- I have had to repair this base that the model was attached to because it was accidentally dropped.
Killer Robot
Techniques used:
- Kit bashing.
- Junk modelling.
- Sculpting.
- Painting.
Materials used:
- Plastic pots and lids.
- Scrap pieces of wood.
- Straws
- Wire
- One small piece of Warhammer kit for the gun.
- Bits of model kit sprue for the base.
Fun Fact:
- This is my best work from a scrap modelling perspective. I love the dynamic motion that I've managed to get out of this model.
Life Fountain
Techniques used:
- Junk Modelling
- Sculpting
- Painting
Materials used:
- Chewing gum pots and other plastic containers.
- Chopped up bits of sprue.
- A lot of hot glue (for the "water")
- Milliput
Fun Fact:
- I'm not sure what the fluid coming out of this fountain is, but it does seem to be giving life to the nearby ground. I don't know if it's good to drink though.
Time Warrior
Techniques used:
- Sculpting
- Painting.
Materials used:
- Milliput
- Plastic lid (for the base).
- Wire
Fun Fact:
- This is one of the only times I've experimented with trying to paint light on a miniature. It was a lot of fun if a little time consuming.
Tinkerer Girl
Techniques used:
- Sculpting
Materials used:
- White tack
Fun Fact:
- I discovered white tack was a good thing to sculpt with purely on a whim. It's very forgiving to work with and due to the fact that it's easy to reuse. It is a great thing to hone your sculpting skills with. (Also it is cheap.)
Wasteland Cyborg
Techniques used:
- Sculpting.
- Kit bashing.
- Painting.
Materials used:
- Warhammer kits.
- Green Stuff
Fun Fact:
- This comes from the same world that the killer robot comes from as they're both powered by the same mysterious green goo.
